Coach Tia’s 30-Day Sugar Break-Up: It’s Time to End the Relationship That Isn’t Serving You

This August, Coach Tia Reid is inviting all Toward Health premium app members to join her 30-Day Sugar Break-Up, a month-long challenge designed to help you understand your relationship with sugar, reduce cravings, and experience what life feels like when your body is no longer controlled by constant highs and lows.

Premium Toward Health app members should pre-register and join Tia’s Thursday evening Coach’s Corner meetings at 5:30 PM ET throughout August. There will also be  a dedicated message board where members can share victories, struggles, recipes, and encouragement along the way.

One of the biggest misconceptions about sugar addiction is that sugar only comes in the form of desserts and candy. Many people tell Tia, “I don’t even eat that much sugar. I prefer salty foods.”

She used to think the same thing, but the reality is that sugar doesn’t always taste sweet. Bread, pasta, rice, oatmeal, flour, grains, and even many fruits are rich in carbohydrates that quickly break down into glucose in the body. Remember: every 4 grams of carbohydrates equals approximately one teaspoon of sugar. When you begin tracking your intake, the numbers can be eye-opening.

Our modern food environment is engineered to keep us coming back for more. Scientists call it the “bliss point,” the perfect combination of sugar, fat, and salt that activates reward centers in the brain and drives us to eat beyond fullness. For some, sugar truly acts as a gateway, much like other addictive substances. Even musicians like Eric Clapton have publicly spoken about recognizing sugar as an early addictive experience in their lives.

The good news? Your brain and body can heal.

Taking a break from sugar gives you the opportunity to reset your taste buds, stabilize energy levels, reduce cravings, and allow your body to shift from constantly burning sugar to burning stored fat for fuel. As Coach Tia often says, your body cannot effectively burn fat if it is always burning sugar.

This challenge isn’t about perfection. It’s about awareness, curiosity, and community.

If you’ve ever wondered what life might feel like with fewer cravings, more stable energy, and a healthier relationship with food, August is the perfect time to find out.

Register here and join us each Thursday at 5:30 PM ET, connect with fellow members on the message board, and take the first step toward breaking up with sugar…one day at a time.

Change your food. Change your life.

Since discovering a ketogenic and low-carb lifestyle, she has lost over 200 pounds and has both reversed pre-diabetes and resolved lifelong depression. "When I was just starting out, facing 200 pounds to lose seemed insurmountable, and the idea I would ever be where I am now was unfathomable. Know this: I am not extraordinary. I just finally got the right advice, put one foot in front of the other and didn't look back. I know now that it can be done, but after battling this war for 40 years I had lost hope that it was really, truly possible. I am living proof that it is."
