Why I Don’t Emphasize Calorie Counting…

It’s easier to track hours of eating than calories.

It’s easier to track sugar/carbs than calories.

It’s easier to track pounds of steak, fish, shrimp, chicken than calories.

Even if you did track calories, per the literature, you’d be off by 20-50%.

Even if you were a medical doctor, or nutritionist, per the literature, your calorie counting would be off by as much as 10-20%.

Even if you were absolutely perfect at tracking calories, your calculations wouldn’t account for the bio-availability of nutrients or account for the thermic effect of foods & changes in resting metabolic rate.

Bottom line:
If you have a good concept of the energy and nutrient values of foods, then your willpower and brain power may be better spent somewhere other than calorie counting and calorie restriction
